In order to do justice to this responsibility, HiPP exceeds statutory environmental
protection standards by far. As Environmental Guidelines the following 13 principles form the basis for the continual improvement of HiPP’s operational environmental protection measures and have constituted an integral part of its corporate policy since 1995.
1. The employment of environmentally friendly technologies enables us to reduce adverse environmental impact to a minimum.
2. Environmental pollution caused by the company is continuously monitored, documented and evaluated. Measures to improve the situation are taken to an extent that is economically feasible, using the best technology available.
3. The environmental impact of new activities, products and processes should be as low as possible and is therefore always assessed in advance.
4. It is our aim to go easy on resources. Priority is to be given to renewable resources over exhaustible resources.
5. As the world’s largest processor of organic raw materials, we feel especially committed to steadily increasing the amount of organic raw materials we use.
6. Our packaging planning is subject to the minimization requirement. The amount of material is reduced to a minimum and we particularly make sure to use as many secondary raw materials and recyclable packaging materials as possible. We support packaging alternatives such as return systems.
7. Effective operational environmental protection is only possible if all employees co-operate. That’s why we seek to foster the environmental awareness of our employees by means of information, training and instructions.
8. We offer our customers constant advice on how to use our products in an environmentally friendly manner.
9. We expect of our suppliers and service providers that they meet environmental standards that are comparable to our own.
10. We attach great importance to engaging in dialogue with the public and we regularly release information about our environmental protection activities. We strive to implement suggestions and requests provided by the public.
11. Being in close contact with the authorities helps us to minimize or avoid environmental burdens.
12. By using a comprehensive incident management system, we seek to reduce to a minimum the risk of accidents or harmful impacts on people or the environment.
13. Through control systems we ensure compliancy with the environmental goals we have set. These are continuously reviewed and as necessary adapted to reflect the latest insights.
